Dance Energy
Dance Energy is a dance platform connecting the community with leading dance industry professionals. An integrated dance programme, providing children and young people, 7- 19 years old (up to 25 with LLDD) from primary, and secondary schools, and community groups with the opportunity to work on a dance piece in a style of their choice.
Young people showcase their talent and perform/compete in a full-stage production in front of an audience, including family and friends. Supported by guest appearances and judges from our illustrious dance industry. All young people have a chance to win exclusive prizes, scholarships, masterclasses, tickets to see dance shows, and much more!
The program welcomes young people from a variety of dance backgrounds with the ability to either build on previous dance foundations or explore new opportunities for creative expression.

Case studies
Leading the way through dance: DD’s journey with Dance Energy
DD, aged 15, has grown up facing significant challenges, including limited family support and financial barriers. Despite this, dance has always been his passion, a positive outlet where he can express himself and stay focused.

After stepping into a last‑minute space at Dance Energy in 2024, DD was inspired to take things further. He was determined to form his own dance group and create something special. Acting as choreographer and group leader, DD recruited 17 dancers and led the group through rehearsals, navigating challenges such as illness, attendance issues and tight time pressures.
Throughout the process, DD showed real commitment and leadership. He kept the group motivated, organised rehearsals, and pushed for a performance that was exciting, varied and high‑quality. That hard work paid off. At Dance Energy 2025, DD’s group won first place in the senior category. The win was a huge moment for the group, who were thrilled to be awarded tickets to see English National Ballet’s R:Evolution at Sadler’s Wells Theatre.
The success brought the group even closer together. Since then, DD has continued leading regular rehearsals and is preparing the group for upcoming community performances. He has clear ambitions to keep growing the group and building on their success.
DD’s journey shows the powerful impact of creative programmes in giving young people space to lead, build confidence and turn passion into achievement.
Opening doors through dance: IG’s Dance Energy journey
IG, aged 16, took part in Dance Energy 2024 in the Senior Category. She has always loved dancing and worked hard to develop her technique, but had limited access to formal training and lessons.

At Dance Energy, IG’s solo performance stood out for its confidence, technical precision and strong stage presence. As a result, she was awarded a term‑long scholarship with Impact Dance, giving her the chance to experience professional dance training for the very first time.
During her first term, IG worked closely with professional choreographers, refining her technique and gaining valuable exposure to the industry. She impressed so much that she was invited to stay on beyond the end of her initial scholarship, an opportunity that she was excited to accept.
Since joining Impact Dance, IG has gone on to perform and compete internationally at youth dance festivals. These experiences have helped her grow in confidence, broaden her horizons and strengthen her ambition to pursue a career in the dance industry.
IG’s journey shows how Dance Energy can open doors for talented young people, providing access to training, opportunities and belief in what they can achieve.
