Our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion

At Youth Action Alliance, we are committed to achieving equal opportunity, celebrating diversity and sustaining a positive and inclusive working environment for our staff. Our aim is to ensure that everyone is equally valued and respected and that our organisation is representative of all members of our community. This is reflected within our values.

We offer equal opportunities in employment for everyone regardless of sex or gender identity, marital status, race, colour, ethnic or national origin, disability, religion or belief, age, sexuality, working status, income or social background, or any other factor not related to the job - adhering to the requirements set out by the Equality Act 2010 (and previous legislation). We are committed to ensuring our services and employment practices reflect the highest possible equality standards.

We aim to provide a workplace where all staff are given the opportunity to reach their full potential, feel valued, enjoy their working environment and work together effectively to achieve our goals. We celebrate individual differences and seek to ensure that everyone is treated with respect. We acknowledge that everyone brings a unique perspective and ideas to YAA and we do everything we can to help each person to thrive. We aim to develop a culture of inclusion and diversity in which all those connected to YAA feel proud of their identity and ability to work and participate with/for us.

We strive to achieve an equal and diverse workforce by providing services that are accessible to everyone, and serving communities that feel they are included and engaged in our activities. We encourage all staff to let us know about any needs or accessibility issues so we can address these effectively and discreetly.  We strive to ensure the working environment is welcoming and inclusive with equity being a key priority.

Our service users and the community will be involved in and consulted on decisions that affect them, and the equality profile of our community and area will be considered in the review and development of projects/services.

Celebrating equality and diversity is an important part of our aim to create a community we can all be proud of.

Dealing with discrimination

Unacceptable behaviour, harassment, discrimination, bullying (including cyber bullying) or victimisation of any individual is perceived as contradictory to our aspirations for a supportive working environment and will not be tolerated. Any allegations of such behaviour will be investigated, and ultimately disciplined, in accordance with our supporting policies and procedures.
